It Is What It Is
Jeff Long REALLY needs to stop talking about his support for Pelphrey...wait, Long believes it is a small minority who is frustrated by a program with zero leadership, zero direction, declining attendance, and ZERO identity.
In fairness to Jeff, he has no choice but to support his coach, I get that, but what I do not understand is why a man who can really communicate his vision is being so vague about basketball. Come on Jeff, let's us in, tell us what YOU expect. Tell us YOUR timetable. Your asking the fans to be supportive without explaining the plan, which is wacky because you are the master planner. What do you see in John Pelphrey that the small minority is missing?
Did he inherit problems? Sure, but what about the ones he has created on his own? I guess you are asking fans to judge this staff by their intent and not their actions.
I could care less who coaches Arkansas next year, in fact, I hope Pel turns it around but the program is decaying under HIS watch. Jeff Long is one of the best communicators I know and it is time for him to effectively communicate his expectations both on and off the court. In other words, how much time will this staff be given to produce a .500 basketball team in a weak conference. Yep, this is how far the program has fallen but ,hey, there is always next year.

Ahhh, the Joy Of Being Wrong!!
Say what you want about the Hogs but they play hard. We spend a lot of time on the show talking about basketball programs and their identity. Well, though it is early, playing hard may be this teams identity but will that equate to wins? Who knows but at least season ticket holders can head to Bud Walton knowing this team will fight until the final buzzer.
Again, this coaching staff will be judge by their wins and not their teams hustle. Please do not take this as the ole moral victory post but this team appears to be showing some fight, and in our great state, sometimes the fight is as just as important as the victory.

Im Back!

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by the blog. It is my job to update this bad boy so from this point on if it is outdated then please blame Russ, I meant me. Yes, blame me, Shawn Christopher Arnell if the blog gets outdated. With that in mind, here is a new list of “Surprises” and “No Big Deal”
Surprised Category
-Message boards not posting “Petrino to USC” topics.
-The Razorback Marching Band’s refusal to honor tradition while trying to be a little creative.
-How bad Tennessee made Kansas look.
-Wade Phillips outcoached Andy Reid, not once, not twice, but three times! Papa Phillips getting a lil street cred.
-Modern Family has become the funniest television show.
No Big Deal Category
-McGuire admitting he juiced while playing pro ball. I find myself feeling sorry for him because you know what they say about those who juice, “Built like a house, hung like a mouse”.
-ESPN releasing a 3-D television channel, please pray that Erin Andrews get’s more face time then Chris Berman.
-Hog’s recruiting is 50th in various publications; this staff goes by what their eyes see and not what their gut is telling them.
-That dudes wore Snuggies to the Liberty Bowl. Think about it, do you know how cold it has to be for a fellow Arkansan to don a Snuggie in public? Come on, give these guys a break! By the way, the tan ones are manlier…so I hear.

Politics 101 with Wally Hall

When it comes to getting things done in Arkansas sports, only one guy tells it Like It Is. When Sports Animal Wally Hall makes his mind up that something needs to be done, even though he has no AD or coaching experience, he has no problem speaking his mind. After the resume building win over #7 Texas, we were able to get Jeff Long on with us. Now Jeff is no stranger to the program and I think he kinda likes the way we conduct business on-air, but Wally had an agenda and it was his night to voice his opinion state-wide..."Jeff...Mr. AD...Long, you need to lock that boy in. Don't let him get away, certainly nowhere in the SEC!!!" Jeff Long on the Sports Animals.
